‘This fall I'm going to take my talents to South Beach and join the Miami Heat’
LeBron James 8th of July 2010

And with that line the world of basketball changed forever with LeBron James the hero Cleveland but with zero rings took his talents to Miami and straight away made them a contender for the championship. Pretty much overnight they signed a whole new team with them trading over paid players (Michael Beasley) to other teams for nothing (2nd round picks) and bring in aging former star players that wanted that ring too (Mike Miller, Juwan Howard, Jerry Stackhouse) that would play for less for what they were worth on the open market

But the days before James announcement, Heat superstar Dwyane Wade resigned with the Heat as did superstar Chris Bosh who was signed from the Raptors. With James now signed now the world media dubbed them the ‘Big 3’
After LeBron James promising “not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7” NBA championships at his first press conference, the ‘Big 3’ decided to opt out of the contracts after 4 season with the Heat. In the seasons they were there the Heat only managed to win 4 straight eastern conference championships with only twice going on to win the NBA championships. Falling well short of promise made.

James was the first to announce what he planned to do and that was sign with the Cleveland Cavs who drafted him. Then rumours started that Chris Bosh was going to sing with the Houston Rockets but after the shock loss of James the Heat offered Bosh a Max contract of 5 years for 118 million. Poor old Wade signed for only 2 season for much less.
So you are asking how did the Heat go all-in? well to sign LeBron James and Chris Bosh both were done with sign and trades with the Heat sending back multiple future first round pick that are still outstanding almost 2 seasons after James left to go back to Cleveland the Heat still owe 1 one more first rounder to them. However the Heat have rebound very well after the loss of James unlike the Cavs who just bottomed out.
